Single folding bed known as "single bed design" in solid teak and braided canework. Headboard slightly tilted with teak and canework frame. Rectangular, criss-crossed base in cedar, with intertwined cotton straps. "Spindle" type profiled leg assembly in solid teak. Removable upholstered mattress covered in brown cotton cloth with beige piping.

Circa 1955-56.

Provenance: Private homes in Chandigarh.

History: this easy-to-carry bed is inspired by the traditional Indian "Charpoi", which is taken outside to sleep in hot weather.
