Folding single bed in solid teak and solid cedar. Headboard slightly tilted with openwork teak slats. Rectangular, criss-crossed base in cedar, with intertwined cotton straps. "Spindle" type profiled leg assembly in solid teak, bolted onto the frame. 

Removable upholstered mattress and bolster covered in anthracite grey cotton cloth.

Circa 1955-56.

  • Width: 36 in / 91,5 cm. (+/-).

Provenance: Student housing at Panjab University, sector 14 and private homes in Chandigarh.

History: This easy-to-carry bed is inspired by the traditional Indian "Charpoi", which is taken outside to sleep in hot weather.
