Large black lacquered dining table in solid teak and teak veneer. Veneered, lacquered rectangular top resting on a bevelled apron and four slanting, tapered legs.

The black lacquered Chandigarh furniture was designed as a protective measure and for easier cleaning. It was therefore found in cafeterias and university restaurants, as well as medical and hospital centres.

Circa 1960.

  • Length: 72 in / 183 cm.
  • Width: 35.8 in / 91,5 cm. (+/-).

Rare table, few examples made, some of varying sizes.

Provenance: "Himalayan Mess Hostel" in Chandigarh.
